Berlin Churches: Jewish Synagogue

The Jewish Synagogue in the former east of Berlin used to be the largest and most important synagogue in Germany. Now, it is one of Berlin's listed buildings.

It was built in the middle of the 19th century in Oranienburger Strasse that was the center of the Jewish district until the Second World War.

During the War, however, the Jewish Synagogue was seriously destroyed and had to be reconstructed afterwards.

Since its reopening in 1995, the Jewish Synagogue has been a center for Jewish Culture.
