With a population of about 3.4 million people, Berlin - the capital of Germany as well as seat of the government - is the largest German city. Due to its political as well as cultural importance, it also is quite a popular destination for tourists.
Berlin's coat of arms shows an upright black bear with red paws and a red tongue on white background. The "Berliner Bär" (Berlin bear) also is the landmark of Berlin although the origin of the bear is not clear.
