Berlin Events & Festivals

For 10 days in April, operas and concerts with international artists have been performed in the Staatsoper Unter den Linden since 1996. The Festtage in 2008 will be held from March 15th to March 24th.

Established in 1996, the Berlin Biennale takes place for 3 months in spring every two years. This exhibition is an event for the promotion and support of contemporary art and experiments. The next biennale will take place from April 5th until June 15th, 2008.

In 2008, the 13th Carnival of Cultures will take place in Berlin from the 9th to the 12th of May. The street festival will be from May 8th to May 12th. On May 11th, there will take place the street parade. The children's carnival will be on May 10th.

The popular Christopher street day that is held every year in June is Berlin's huge gay parade where people dress in fantastic costumes and celebrate on the street. If you want to be there in 2008, note June 28th.

November every year is the time for carrying out jazz concerts at various locations throughout the city.

In 2007, the 4th "Winterwelt" takes place at the Potsdamer Platz. Although this event started only several years ago, it has already become quite popular. On and around Potsdamer Platz, various winter events are carried out from November 3rd 2007 to January 6th, 2008 including for example sledding and ice-skating.

Of course, you have to visit one of the numerous Christmas Markets that are held every year from late November until Christmas throughout the city.
