Tiergarten Berlin

With an area of more than 210 ha, the "Tiergarten" - also called "Großer Tiergarten" - in the area "Tiergarten" in "Berlin Mitte" is Berlin's largest park. It is separated by the famous "Strasse des 17. Juni" in two parts.

Now, it only is an important place for relaxation and leisure. There are located quite many sights in the "Tiergarten", e.g. the Bellevue Palace, the Soviet War Memorial and the "Victory Column" at the square "Großer Stern".

Park Schloss Charlottenburg

Park Schloss Charlottenburg
The park of the Charlottenburg Palace in the Berlin area Charlottenburg was designed at the end of the 18th century according to plans of Simeon Godeau in baroque style. About 100 years later, it was changed following the example of English gardens. As the park was seriously destroyed during the Second World War, it was redesigned again. In this, however, the original plans were not kept: the gardens of the Charlottenburg Palace received a baroque layout that was different to the original one.

There are a few interesting sights in the park, e.g. the teahouse Belvedere and the New Pavilion.

Zoologischer Garten

Also in the Charlottenburg area, there is the zoo of Berlin ("Zoologischer Garten") that was opened in 1844. It is one of the largest German zoos as well as a major tourist attraction of Berlin.

Next to the zoo, there is the "Aquarium" where you can see not only fishes but also reptiles, amphibians and insects.
